Forth coming events

·        Wall Climbing workshop

Have ten booked on the climbing wall workshop starting on  3 May at Linnet Clough. Need another instructor for the first night, Keith to try and get one.

·        T1 Hill working workshop

Only 2 booked on so far, districts asked to see if they have any candidates and if so to contact Keith.

·        Sale water Park Kayaking

Mark Kennedy (ADC water Man South) was not at the meeting, Keith will contact him to see if he will be doing his usual taster sessions.

·        County camp

Keith advised the meeting that the activities team had not been approached to provide the instructors for the climbing and kayaking, which did not help the county in building a strong activities team. There are teams providing Climbing and water activities but exactly who was unclear.

·        Jamboree OST

The Off Site Teams for Splash (water sports) & Gilwell Adventure, are still needing Dinghy sailing instructors and climbing instructors.

Assessors professional development

The new permit scheme requires assessors to attend at least one session every five years. The region will be endeavouring to organise these on a regular bases.

Assessing learning for assessors (Module 25)

Assessors under the new scheme are required to have attended a Module 25. Of those present at the meeting there were a number who had not done a module 25. Keith was to speak to the training team with a view to providing one.

BCU 2/3 star

We had a short discussion / explanation of the different BCU coach levels and which BCU star level allowed what to be done on what water.

Feed back from Districts

North, are running  kayaking sessions, for their district. Dinnting explorers also run Kayaking sessions mainly for their unit but do allow members of the attend district. It was hoped that we may be able to expand these in some form next year or encourage interested leaders to attend established programmes such as those provided by West Yorkshire.

Next meeting 22 November at County office.
